About MBD & Rene Wetzel




In 2009, Rene Wetzel started consulting in online marketing and new market development, guiding clients through the opportunities of an increasingly harmonized EU market and emerging digital distribution channels.
In 2012, this work evolved into Music Business Development (MBD), delivering digital marketing and business expertise to musicians and the music industry.
From 2018 to 2024, Rene helped pivot an EV charging startup through its acquisition by a global energy major, leading international growth and organically doubling its contracted asset base by expansion.
Today, MBD stands for Meaningful Business Development a guiding principle that combines strategy, creativity, and values to create growth that is both measurable and meaningful.
